Betsson has finally arrived in Argentina! They received a special authorization from the Buenos Aires Province Institute of Lotteries and Casinos (IPLyC) to operate in the country.
Betsson joined forces with Victoria Casino, a well-established gambling establishment in Argentina, to obtain the required permits to function in both the Province of Buenos Aires and the City of Buenos Aires. This arrival follows a series of other companies, such as Codere Online, BPlay, and GiG, who began offering online gambling services in Argentina in December.
Although Argentina has a long tradition of casinos and gambling, online gambling remains a relatively new phenomenon.
Betsson is thrilled to be a part of this expanding online market. They are combining their expertise in online gambling with Victoria Casino’s local knowledge to become a leading player in Argentina.
Betsson’s chief executive, Pontus Lindwall, stated that launching in Argentina is a significant milestone for them and demonstrates their commitment to expanding in Latin America. He also mentioned that securing the license in the Province of Buenos Aires, in addition to the City of Buenos Aires, highlights their seriousness about becoming a major player in the region.
South America is a highly significant area for our company, and we’re performing well there. We have ambitious plans for Argentina in the years to come,” Lindvall stated.
Betsson’s debut in Buenos Aires occurs as the firm endeavors to establish a stronger presence in other South American markets. Last week, Betsson was designated as the official sponsor of the Chilean soccer team Colo-Colo. This follows a string of acquisitions of local brands, most recently Inkabet. Prior to that, Betsson also acquired portions of the technology company JDP Tech and the Brazilian wagering company Suaposta.
