Fresh research indicates that ladies favor games of fortune, while gentlemen lean towards wagering on athletic competitions. This discovery originates from BritishGambler, a gaming organization situated in the UK, which examined the actions of over 500 new participants on their system. Additionally, they polled 850 persons to gain a deeper comprehension of the motivations behind gambling.
The investigation revealed that a remarkable 78% of those who participated in “games of luck” were female. Conversely, this pattern was entirely reversed when it came to placing wagers on sporting events: 72% of sports bettors were male.
The firm deduced that males are attracted to activities that encompass an element of expertise, even in games that are predominantly based on chance. For instance, the study discovered that an astounding 83% of online poker players were male, despite the game involving a significant amount of luck. This implies that men attempt to exert a level of skill onto games even when fortune is the determining factor.
Continuing, Costin emphasized the contrasting wagering approaches of men and women, noting the increasing influx of females into sports gambling. He cited the instance of Royal Ascot last summer, where women constituted almost half of all wagers made. However, Costin remarked that 78% of these women selected their horse based on “the horse’s moniker, the hue of the silks, the jockey’s appellation, or the horse’s coloration.”
He further discovered disparities in how men and women manage defeats. “Intriguingly,” Costin stated, “when conversing with both male and female bettors, women are far less inclined to be candid about their setbacks.”
He appended, “Conversely, research has indicated that for a substantial proportion of male gamblers, a significant loss grants them boasting privileges, as being able to declare ‘I failed, but I possessed the means to fail’ is a symbol of manliness.”
