Continent 8, a premier cybersecurity and regulatory compliance solutions firm serving the iGaming sector, recently completed a mandated security audit and vulnerability assessment and penetration test (VAPT) for Oddsworks in the state of Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania’s gaming regulations stipulate that both operators and vendors undergo yearly independent security audits and VAPT. Oddsworks, a prominent game content developer, selected Continent 8 for these critical services, expanding their existing collaboration which already encompasses New Jersey and Michigan.
Continent 8’s specialized cybersecurity unit, C8 Secure, rigorously examined Oddsworks’ security protocols to guarantee conformity with the strict standards of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB). This involved scrutinizing their security tools, such as intrusion detection and prevention mechanisms, virtual machine protocols, antivirus and anti-malware software, vulnerability scanning practices, and their robust log management platform.
This joint effort culminated in an efficient eight-week audit procedure, during which Continent 8’s skilled team even uncovered vulnerabilities that went beyond the original parameters of the audit. The exhaustive audit and VAPT findings were subsequently delivered to the PGCB and obtained regulatory authorization.
Digital safety is critical for both internet-based and physical gaming, and Oddsworks is establishing a standard by making it a priority,” stressed Patrick Gardner, Managing Director at C8 Secure.
He further underscored the significance of strong digital security protocols, noting, “Deploying these protocols is not only vital for safeguarding enterprises but also a requirement for regulatory adherence. Pennsylvania has taken a leading position in securing the internet gaming sector.”
Steven De Mar, Senior Vice President at Oddsworks, reiterated these thoughts, stating, “At Oddsworks, we place immense importance on digital security, particularly given the escalating attacks targeting our sector. Continent 8’s assistance during our digital security review in Pennsylvania was essential. We were especially impressed by the efficiency and comprehensiveness of their review process, from planning and implementation to the concluding report.”
This collaboration signifies another important achievement for Continent 8, a firm that has been swiftly expanding its international presence. They recently inaugurated a new data facility in CuraƧao and expanded their reach within the US market by establishing a presence in five additional states.
