The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) has reversed its prohibition on wagering on the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). This decision follows the combat sports organization’s collaboration with U.S. Integrity, a prominent sports integrity company.
U.S. Integrity will now leverage its proficiency to monitor for any dubious betting activities surrounding UFC bouts. This alliance encompasses all UFC events, including those broadcast on television.
The AGCO originally imposed the ban on UFC betting due to concerns over irregular wagering trends, compelling betting platforms to cease accepting bets on the fights.
However, with the lifting of the ban, Canadian enthusiasts of mixed martial arts in Ontario can once again place wagers on their preferred combatants.
“We engaged in productive discussions with the AGCO and effectively addressed their apprehensions,” stated Riché T. McKnight, the UFC’s Executive Vice President and General Counsel.
“Furthermore, we have strengthened our regulations for fighters, unequivocally emphasizing that no individual affiliated with the UFC is permitted to place bets on fights, either directly or indirectly. This prohibition extends to betting on oneself.”
Matthew Holt, Chief Executive Officer of U.S. Integrity, remarked, “We are delighted to join forces with the UFC and contribute to ensuring the integrity of betting on their events as the sport continues to expand.”
US Integrity holds a strong dedication to providing its customers with superior knowledge and regulatory solutions. The company is excited to collaborate with the UFC, an extraordinary entity, to strengthen the soundness of its protocols and practices.”
