Australias media regulator has taken action against a number of unlawful wagering platforms, requesting internet providers restrict Australian users from accessing them.

Websites such as Lucky7even, 50 Crowns, and Zota Bet are among the most recent to be prohibited. These platforms are frequently dubious, providing unregulated games and possibly defrauding participants.

This is not unfamiliar territory for the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA). Since the program’s inception in 2019, they have blocked over 900 questionable gambling sites and partners. Furthermore, they have terminated 221 illicit gambling enterprises.

This recent action occurs as the Australian gambling industry faces increased examination. Significant participants, such as bet365, are being investigated for potential legal violations, particularly the Interactive Gambling Act of 2001. It appears that authorities are committed to sanitizing the sector and safeguarding Australians from unscrupulous businesses.

At the beginning of this month, the Australian financial intelligence unit, AUSTRAC, levied penalties against companies for neglecting to adhere to anti-money laundering and terrorism financing regulations. The head of AUSTRAC stressed that enterprises lacking robust protective measures become vulnerable to criminal exploitation.

Separately, The Royal Hotel, situated in Wallarah, incurred sanctions for breaching gambling statutes. The establishment was deemed to have committed thirteen infractions.

Lastly, Tabcorp’s Chief Executive, Adam Rytenskild, stepped down following claims of unsuitable workplace communication. Although he refuted any recollection of the specific verbiage, Rytenskild conceded that the gravity of the accusations justified his resignation.
